President’s Report.

  • Certification. We will continue to collect SOI cards.
  • Communications. Many faculty unaware of role of PERC: need to communicate information more effectively to members.
  • Litigation. Many judges wary of irritating Tallahassee. Next hearings are scheduled for May 31 & June 1.
  • Calendar. A calendar is being prepared, and will include virtual townhalls. We are looking for alternatives to Ferg’s in St. Pete.
  • Volunteers. Several of our committees need members. The faculty senate is also having difficulties getting volunteers – because of PTR. Nevertheless, some other chapters are more active.

New Business.

  • Senate Meetings. The upcoming UFF Senate meeting is virtual, but it is proposed that we propose that the fall meeting be in a cheaper hotel..

Committee Reports.

  • Membership. The Committee is making plans for spring.
  • Publicity. Many faculty unaware of role of PERC: need to communicate information more effectively to members. We need promotional videos.

  • Bargaining. We received a lot of positive feedback from faculty for the last salary proposal.
  • Government Relations. We should stress budget issues when talking to legislators.
