Time and place. The meeting was conducted at 12 noon on USF Tampa in the EDU 161 and on Zoom.

Attendance. Twelve UFF members.

Minutes. June 2 minutes corrected and approved.

President’s Report.

  • Board of Trustees and Faculty Senate Executive Committee meetings. Discussion of the proposed stadium and post tenure review.
  • Chapter Council. USF was allotted 25 senator seats and we have 6 senators and 13 volunteers, so we need 6 volunteers; we were allotted 12 delegate seats and we have 3 delegates and 4 volunteers, so we need 5 volunteers.

New Business

  • EDues I: Anti-Union Flyers. An organization called the Freedom Foundation is distributing anti-union flyers to Florida educators containing misleading statements regarding Senate Bill 256 and the relationship between union certification on contract status; the flyers also tell educators not to provide the information necessary for setting up eDues. The union is watching this campaign but has not responded (yet).

Old Business

  • EDues II: Baseball. Members who are on eDues are invited to join UFF at the July 5 baseball game of the Rays v. the Phillies.
  • Post Tenure Review. Discussion of the situation.

Reports

  • Grievances. The issue in the grievances concerning the INTO layoffs is the requirement for one-year’s notice; this issue will be raised in the Biweekly [originally scheduled for the June 29 Biweekly, now for the July 13 Biweekly]. In addition, some units are not conducting annual evaluations – another subject for an upcoming Biweekly.
  • Membership. Cynthia Patterson is acting chair.
  • Publicity. We now have a trial account for Constant Contact and have acquired the domain name uffusf.org.
