President’s report.
- USFSM. There is a report that if the deal to deliver USFSM to NCF, then the land will be open to developers. [Note added: WUSF aired such a report; see https://www.wusf.org/education/2026-02-03/ex-new-college-strategist-transfer-usf-dorm-debt-will-kill-the-college]. This is in contrast to reports that the deal was made to facilitate profitable college sports at New College Florida. [WUSF explored college sports funding at New College Florida; see https://wusf.org/text/education/2026-02-21/how-new-college-turned-housing-dollars-into-fund-athletics#:~:text=The%20move%20reflects%20New%20College’s,and%20creating%20new%20sports%20teams.]
- Simple Syllabus. There are reports of faculty having Simple Syllabi imposed on them.
- CBA. Hardcopies of the new CBA are to be distributed by campus mail.
- Certification. The unit list from USF HR is a mess. We have cards from perhaps 45% of the unit, but will seek more.
- Inquiry from the College of Pharmacy. Some faculty are interested in representation. Interested faculty will continue to encourage and gauge support.
- Course releases. The Administration has not made an unequivocal statement regarding its intentions. However, course assignments suggest that the Administration does not intend to honor course release allocation. Discussion.
- <.b>Recent court rulings. The White House is attempting to gain control of accreditors and cut Pell grants; what happens there may be up to Congress. An attempt to quash the current injunction against the Stop WOKE Act failed.
New Business.
- NEA Representative Assembly. The chapter secretary attended the Assembly and will compose reports for the Membership and Government Relations committees.
Reports.
- Membership. Training starts next week.
- Treasury. We are solvent.
- Publicity. Discussion of videos.
- Grievances. Several outstanding.
