ANNOUNCEMENTS REMINDER: PRIMARY ELECTION ON AUGUST 14 On August 14, Democrats and Republicans will choose which candidates to nominate for the fall races for the U.S. senate, for Florida's congressional seats, for the Florida state senate and house seats, for county commission and city council seats, and even ... supervisors of elections. There are also non-partisan elections of judges and school boards and such. For higher education, the election will have unusually high stakes, so we strongly encourage everyone to go out and vote. Remember: as silence betokens consent, if you do not vote, you consent to the results ... whatever they are.		UFF USF EMPLOYEES VOTE UNANIMOUSLY TO RATIFY AMENDMENT On July 26, UFF USF employees voted to ratify an amendment to Article 15 (on tenure) in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (the contract). The vote was unanimous. The effect of this amendment is that all UFF USF faculty from the former USF Polytechnic who are on tenure track (and there are nineteen such faculty), and who have been reassigned to USF Tampa, will come up for tenure at USF Tampa under USF Tampa criteria; but except for new hires, such faculty will have some options for more time on their tenure clocks. This amendment will come into force as soon as the USF Board of Trustees ratifies it. This is the last regular UFF USF Biweekly broadcast until the second week of classes, when the UFF USF Chapter meetings resume. However, there are many things going on, and we will keep you informed of major developments. Meanwhile, have a happy August!
