The following is a joint statement by United Faculty of Florida Chief Negotiator Robert Welker and USF Chief Negotiator John Dickinson.
The bargaining teams for the University of South Florida and the United Faculty of Florida are pleased to announce that they have reached a tentative agreement on a new 3 year faculty collective bargaining agreement (CBA). The new CBA:
The proposed new contract will be presented to the employees of the UFF USF Bargaining Unit shortly and to the Board of Trustees. The UFF will hold a Q&A session after the chapter meeting on April 22 (the chapter meeting will be at 12 noon in EDU 261 on USF Tampa and the town hall will be at 2 pm; they will both be hybrid meetings with Zoom capability; for a Zoom invitation, contact the Chapter Secretary). Then the employees of the UFF USF Bargaining Unit will vote on ratifying the propsed contract and the USF Board of Trustees will vote on ratifying the proposed contract, and if both vote in favor of ratification, the proposed contract comes into force. Details on this process shall be forthcoming.
Benefits of membership include the right to run and vote in UFF chapter and statewide elections; representation in grievances (UFF cannot represent a non-member in a grievance or litigation); special deals in insurance, travel, legal advice, and other packages provided by our affiliates; free insurance coverage for job-related liability; and the knowledge you are supporting education in Florida. Here is the membership form. Come and join the movement.
Many of our students are struggling during this crisis, and the USF Foundation is supporting the USF Food Pantries to help out. They are accepting non-perishable donations, but one can also make monetary donations for the pantries at St. Petersburg, Sarasota / Manatee, and Tampa.
