Consolidation Update

On Tuesday, March 5, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, in the USF Marshall Student Center Ballroom, the USF Board of Trustees will meet to consider, among other things, what to say to the State University System Board of Governors about consolidation. On the agenda (a gigantic pdf file) is Item 105 (page 62) on USF System Consolidation Implementation Plan and Timeline. Posted items include:

  • The USF Administration's Consolidation Implementation Committee report (pp. 86 - 202).
  • The legislatively mandated Task Force Final Report (pp. 203 - 324).
  • A "Crosswalk" bwetween the two reports (pp. 325 - 341).
  • The various reports from the consolidation teams and clusters (pp. 342 - 872).
The Board's recommendation is due on March 15.

The Chapter Election

Nominations for the UFF USF chapter are now closed, and ballots will shortly be sent out in the mail to home addresses of UFF members; all UFF members, and only UFF members, may vote in elections of UFF USF chapter officers and representatives. We will email a SPECIAL to UFF members when the ballots go out.

#FundOurFutureFL

On Monday, March 4, the Florida Education Association will have a number of demonstrations across the state to dramatize the need for education funding. The United Faculty of Florida's USF Graduate Assistants United will participate with a demonstration at the main entrace of the university on Monday, from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Here is their flyer:

The campaign is tweeting with the hashtags #FundOurFutureFL and #RedforEd. Sympathizers are asked to wear red to show their support for funding our future.

Download, fill in, and mail the membership form. $ 500 Travel Grants for UFF Members

The USF Chapter of the UFF will award six $ 500 Travel Scholarships for summer and fall. This will be for travel for participation in a professional activity. All applications are due by Wednesday, April 17, and only UFF members are eligible. In addition, no recipient of the 2018 cycles of travel grants is eligible to apply, and members of the Executive Committee are ineligible. The six recipients shall be selected by lot at the April 19 chapter meeting. For more information, see the Travel Scholarship Flyer.
