ANNOUNCEMENTS

CHAPTER MEETING TOMORROW AT CDB RESTAURANT

The UFF USF Chapter will hold its last meeting of the semester tomorrow, Friday, to wrap up unfinished business, including the election of an Election Committee that will over see the election of all UFF USF officers and representatives next spring. The meeting will be tomorrow, Friday, at 12 noon, in CDB Restaurant at 51st & Fowler, just east of USF - Tampa campus. There will be salad, pizza, and drinks, and all USF faculty and professionals - UFF members and non-members alike - are invited to join us.

UFF STATEWIDE ELECTIONS COMING

By now, all UFF members should have received a Call for Nominations from the statewide UFF office. Dues-paying UFF USF members not only elect chapter officials every year, but every other year they elect officials and representatives of the statewide UFF union local. If you are a UFF member and you wish to run for UFF statewide president or vice president, Florida Education Association Governance Board member, National Education Association delegate, or American Federation of Teachers delegate, download, fill in and mail the nomination form by January 5. But remember, only dues-paying members may run or vote in union elections, so join today!

A SPECIAL, LIMITED TIME AFT TERM LIFE OFFER FOR UFF MEMBERS

We received the following message from our Tallahassee office, addressed to dues-paying UFF members, which we would like to share.

In recognition of the recent changes to the university sponsored term life insurance program, I asked our state affiliate FEA and our national affiliate AFT to find a better source of term life insurance for UFF members.

Met Life, the endorsed life insurance carrier of AFT + Member Benefits, is providing a special enrollment window until January 28, 2013 to allow UFF members to purchase term life insurance protection for up to 2x salary on a Guaranteed Issue basis. There will be no medical questions, exams, or blood tests. As long as you are actively at work (not disabled) and an AFT member in good standing, you will be accepted into the program. In addition, if you are applying for $100,000 or more and are a nonsmoker, you will automatically qualify for the new, preferred rates. For example, the premium for $100,000 for a 30 year old nonsmoker is just $4 per month. The rate for a 40 year old is $7 and $15 for a 50 year old. Plus, each enrollee receives free will preparation service from the Hyatt Legal Plan.

You will be receiving additional plan details and an enrollment package via US Mail in the very near future. Please consider this special offer as you make your insurance choices. see http://www.unitedfacultyofflorida.org/aft/.
