UFF SPONSORS RECEPTION FOR HUMANITIES INSTITUTE LECTURE ON SEPT. 20

Welcome back! We hope you had a happy, productive summer and are ready for the class of 2016.

The USF Chapter of the UFF is making plans for the coming academic year -- the legislative elections in fall and the legislature in spring and organizing for new members and preparing for bargaining throughout. That includes a few events...

The USF Humanities Institute and the United Faculty of Florida are sponsoring a presentation by Stacy Braukman, who will talk about her recent book on a bit of Florida history: Communists and Perverts under the Palms: The Johns Committee in Florida, 1956-1965. (Image courtesy of the USF Humanities Institute.)

Fifty years ago, the Johns Committee investigated communism, the civil rights movement, and homosexuality in Florida in general, and that included an investigation of USF itself. After her book came out, Inside Higher Ed interviewed Stacy Braukman. She is a USF alumnus, and the USF Humanities Institute asked her to give a lecture at USF. She will speak on September 20 at 7 pm in CWY 202: see the announcement in the events calendar and page 3 of the Institute newsletter.

The USF Chapter of the UFF is proud to co-sponsor this lecture and invites everyone from the USF community to come. And bring a colleague!
