We have a Facebook page!  Check out United Faculty of Florida at USF.  It is public (so anyone - students, colleagues, the provost - and read it) and all UFF members are eligible to join the group that posts items on it.  The page serves as a forum for UFF members to share issues and interests.  Check it out!

Art Shapiro, candidate
President & Senator ex officio, Delegate

Information: Arthur Shapiro is a candidate for President of UFF. He has served as President for four years and Vice-President before that. He was Treasurer, has been a senator for over ten years, and served on the bargaining team for four years.

He joined the first teachers’ union outside of Chicago when it was formed, and has negotiated both teachers’ and administrators’ contacts (yep, in some states administrators have unions) as a superintendent of schools. He has been a professor of Educational Leadership at USF for over 35 years, was a chair three times, served on the Faculty Senate as Sergeant-at-Arms for two terms, and for several years as a senator.

He strongly supports faculty involvement in governance as essential for the Academy. He believes that we have to take effective action to combat the attempt to decertify the UFF, which comprises an existential threat to UFF.
