FSU PRESIDENT ERIC BARRON ON TEXAN PROPOSALS

Florida State University President Eric Barron has responded to a set of proposals advanced by a right-wing Texas think tank on reforming higher education. The Seven Solutions for Strengthening Higher Education in Texas has won support in Florida, in particular by Governor Rick Scott. President Barron's report, Breakthrough Solutions for Higher Education: Florida Can Do Better then Texas, was outlined in the Tallahassee Democrat article, FSU President offers answer to Texas higher ed reforms. Barron's "Florida Solutions" are offered as a proposal to the governor.

Fall is the time when legislation is drawn up: the spring session is merely when it appears on the floor. So the UFF is paying close attention to these developments and will be reviewing them at the UFF Senate meeting over the next weekend.
